Michelle Obama is getting spoiled by her “biggest fan” on her 54th birthday — a.k.a. her husband, Barack Obama.
The former first lady took to her Instagram on Wednesday to show off the beautiful flowers and card she received from her husband.
“Thank you @BarackObama for the beautiful flowers waiting for me in the office this morning,” Mrs. Obama wrote. “You’re my best friend, biggest fan, and getting notes and flowers from you will never get old.”
The card was addressed to “Miche” and signed, “Happy birthday, B.”
Mrs. Obama also thanked the rest of her fans for all the birthday messages.
“And to the many people from around the country who sent cards and posted on social media, you have no idea how much we love hearing from you,” she added. “I know birthdays can sometimes be bittersweet (54!), but your messages of hope, generosity, and warmth have always reminded me how lucky and blessed we are.”
The former president also celebrated his wife’s special day with a sweet photo post on his Instagram.
“You’re not only my wife and the mother of my children, you’re my best friend,” he captioned a stunning throwback photo of the couple. “I love your strength, your grace, and your determination. And I love you more each day. Happy Birthday, @MichelleObama.”
Both posts gave fans on social media serious relationship goals.
“THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HER,” one admirer commented on Obama’s post.
The Cranberries lead singer Dolores O’Riordan has died at the age of 46 in London. The singer’s cause of death is yet to be determined, and the London’s coroner’s office announced it won’t reveal details until at least April. The singer was in London for a recording session when she died suddenly on January 15. O’Riordan was found unresponsive in her hotel room on Park Lane in central London.
Dolores O’Riordan, known for her distinctive singing voice, was originally from Limerick and led the band to international success when she replaced their original lead singer in the 90s. The band shot to international fame with their 1993 debut album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? which sold over 40 million records worldwide. The Irish band struck it big with singles Linger and Zombie. Dolores released 2 solo albums while The Cranberries were on hiatus and the band got back together in 2009. O’Riordan split from her husband of 20 years in 2014, former Duran Duran tour manager Don Burton, with whom she had three children.
Tests have been carried out to establish how the Cranberries singer died. Coroner’s officer Stephen Earl told The Guardian: “The London ambulance service was contacted and verified her death at the scene. Subsequently, the Met police attended and they determined the death to be non-suspicious.” A hearing in April will determine when the findings regarding O’Riordan’s death will be released, a rep for the Westminster Coroners’ Court told Rolling Stone. O’Riordan’s family may be notified of the results prior to the hearing and can choose whether or not to share the findings publicly.
Dolores O’Riordan was in London to record a cover of the hit song Zombie with a hard rock band called Bad Wolves. Her bandmates, Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler, expressed how upset they were by the news. O’Riordan’s Cranberries bandmates said in a statement “The world has lost a true artist.” Noel Hogan, the guitarist, told Rolling Stone: “Dolores’ legacy will be her music. She was so passionate about it. There are songs I hear today that we wrote over 20 years ago, and I see and hear people singing along with them,” said Hogan. “There are only a few artists who get to have maybe one song they are remembered by. Dolores has so many. It’s a great legacy.” The Cranberries also posted a message to Twitter to commemorate their late lead singer.
O’Riordan attempted suicide by overdose back in 2013, explaining she had been suffering from depression. She said a mental breakdown had led her to attempt to take her own life. She was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder. O’Riordan stated in the past she believed being abused as a child was responsible for her struggle mentally and emotionally.
Friends of O’Riordan told TMZ that the late singer had been “dreadfully depressed” and suffering from severe back pain in the weeks leading up to her death. The band announced a tour in 2017 that would have dates in Europe, the UK, and the US. At the beginning of the European leg, The Cranberries had to cancel the remainder of the tour because of O’Riordan’s health issues, citing “medical reasons associated with a back problem” as the reason for the cancellation. In December of 2017, O’Riordan posted on Facebook saying she was “feeling good” and had done her “first bit of gigging in months.”
BBC reports that O’Riordan will be buried in her native Ireland, as confirmed by the parish priest from her hometown in Limerick. “The plan is for her to be buried here at home. When that will be will depend on when her body is released,” he said. A book of condolence was also opened at the city council’s headquarters in Limerick.

Fun is the enjoyment of pleasure, particularly in leisure activities. Fun is an experience — often unexpected, informal, generally not cerebral and generally purposeless. It is an enjoyable distraction, diverting the mind and body from any serious task or contributing an extra dimension to it. Although particularly associated with recreation and play, fun may be encountered during work, social functions, and even seemingly mundane activities of daily living. It may often have little to no logical basis, and opinions on whether an activity is fun may differ. A distinction between enjoyment and fun is difficult but possible to articulate, fun being a more spontaneous, playful, or active event. There are psychological and physiological implications to the experience of fun.
Colorectal cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the colon or the rectum. If you’re unfamiliar with the term malignant, it means that the cancerous tumor can spread or grow. The colon absorbs water and nutrients and passes the waste to the rectum. The reason why the colon and the rectum are grouped together as colorectal cancer is because both are made of the same tissue.
Now imagine you’re a father of two beautiful children and married the woman of your dreams. Sounds like the perfect life right? Now imagine that you were given two weeks to live. There are only two ways someone who is given that news can respond.
I want you to continue reading because today I am going to share with you one of the ways to respond to news like that.
The story begins with 43-year-old Rob Mooberry. In July 2012, Mooberry was admitted to the hospital because he had a perforated colon. But once doctors did further tests and scans, it revealed that he had stage 4 cancer. This means that the cancer had spread to his liver, lymph nodes, and bowels.
The news shocked Mooberry because there was no family history of cancer. Doctors believed that the cancer was doing harmful damage to him for two years. But Mooberry explains that he was experiencing symptoms a year before he was diagnosed. The symptoms included blood in his stool, bloating and changes in his bowel movements.
But it was when Mooberry realized that nothing could pass by his colon that he needed to go to the ER. When he went to the ER, that’s when doctors gave Mooberry the news that he had cancer and it had spread. The doctors explained to Mooberry that the road he had ahead of him was going to be rough. They outlined his treatment which would include a colostomy bag, which would be followed by radiation therapy, ileostomy, and chemotherapy.
Mooberry had no health insurance, but he trusted his medical team and decided to go through with all the surgeries and necessary treatments. The result was that Mooberry’s cancer was downgraded to stage 3A. But Mooberry knew that his body couldn’t handle any more treatments, so he decided to try a different alternative.
Mooberry told his doctors that he wasn’t going to continue with his chemotherapy and radiation. Instead, he decided to change his diet. Mooberry explains that the moment he was told he had cancer he started eating a plant-based diet. Despite medical officials urging Mooberry to continue with his cancer treatments, he knew he couldn’t go through with it.
So Mooberry continued to eat a vegan diet and also cut out sugars, red meat, and dairy from his diet. About a year later in 2013, Mooberry went to the doctors for a follow-up CT scan. Doctors informed him that his cancer was downgraded by almost 80 percent. By 2014, the Daily Mail reported that Mooberry’s cancer was completely gone!
Today, Rob Mooberry is celebrating his fifth year of a cancer-free life with his wife Amanda and their 20-month old twins. To help give back to the cancer community, Mooberry now runs a small non-profit cancer charity called Mu Casa Moo Foundation. The charity helps raise money for families and individuals that are struggling financially after battling cancer.
Mooberry was clearly onto something by changing his diet. By eliminating red meat, especially when it’s cooked at a high temperature, you’re eliminating HCAs and PAHs. The other food that you need to eliminate is sugar. Cancer cells feed off of sugar, so you’ll need to cut it out if you want them to stay in remission.
Mel Gibson has found box office success the past couple of years, directing the well-received Hacksaw Ridge and starring in the hilarious sequel Daddy’s Home 2 where he plays the cool father of Mark Wahlberg. But another aspect of the actor’s life people can’t seem to get enough of is his new look. That, or the fact that he’s on child #9.
Mel Gibson and his young girlfriend, 27-year-old Rosalind Ross, recently stepped out in Malibu where the two of them were caught by paparazzi grocery shopping. However, fans hardly recognized the 62-year-old actor, who was sporting a baseball cap, casual wear, and a full beard. Although Gibson has been sporting the beard in recent public appearances, fans were still thrown off by the actor’s appearance.
The scruffy white beard and serious tan are becoming somewhat of a signature look for the actor, but it’s still a shocker for fans who aren’t used to the new look. Many were surprised when pictures surfaced of Gibson pushing a full cart of groceries outside a local supermarket. The cart was so full that many joked the actor, especially with the beard, looked like he was preparing for the apocalypse. Gibson’s girlfriend matched the actor’s casual wear, sporting a plaid button-up shirt, blue jeans, and comfy loafers. Gibson was also in flared jeans, along with a simple button-up shirt, casual shoes, and a black baseball cap. Gibson even proved chivalry isn’t dead when he was seen carrying the heavy grocery bags as Ross, holding a water bottle, followed behind.
Gibson has been dating Ross for three years and the couple has one son together, Lars. Before Lars was born Gibson told The Daily Telegraph that it was his 27-year-old girlfriend’s first time giving birth but that it was nothing new for him, “so I am going to be very good support, very good experienced support.” The two first met when she applied for a job at Gibson’s production company, Icon. Radar Online reports that following that meeting, the two jetted down to Costa Rica, spending time on his compound and then flew to Panama from there. Sources say the two seem very happy together.
So who is Rosalind Ross? The attractive brunette is something of a superstar in the American equestrian vaulting world. Friends say she left the sport to try to make it as a writer. Radar Online reported that her meeting with Mel came when she went for an interview at his production company for a writing position. Ross is very driven, saying, “Ambition is channeling desire into a relentless pursuit.”
Mel has seven children with his first wife Robyn Moore; a daughter Hannah, and his six sons Edward, Christian, William, Louis, Milo, and Thomas. The actor was married to Robyn for 31 years, although they technically separated in 2006. He also has an eight-year-old daughter, Luca, with Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva (pictured above).
Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva claims she was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of the actor. Grigorieva claims in court documents she has been diagnosed with PTSD “due to domestic violence and the protracted, expensive and difficult paternity battle I had to endure.” Gibson was charged with misdemeanor battery against Grigorieva, cutting a plea deal with prosecutors in 2011. The pianist also says the whole ordeal actually caused her to grow a tumor near her brain: “As a result of the stresses of litigation and bankruptcy, I was recently diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma and will need to go through treatments in the near future, with increased medical bills,” said Grigorieva.
With controversy following him from his previous relationship to Oksana Grigorieva, Radar Online reported that Gibson was in no rush to make his new relationship with Ross public, but the two hit it off right away and things began to move quicker than expected. So far, aside from the commentary from gossip magazines on the age difference between the two and the pregnancy which would make Gibson a father to child #9, the two have managed to maintain a relatively low profile.
A close friend of Ross’s told the Daily Mail that Ross was having a hard time dealing with the attention that comes with dating the well-known actor. “There’s been a lot of very not very nice media that’s been written about her,” said the source. “Sifting through it has not been very pleasant at all. Sensationalizing her because of her relationships is not what she’s looking for.” Aside from the speculation, if these photos say anything it’s that these two are still going strong, and that they also have a healthy appetite.
Since the introduction of advertising campaigns, we have come across some very questionable releases over time. Despite the money and power behind these companies, they have time and time again been making controversial slip-ups that have gone public and viral. One may question and wonder, with all the qualified professionals working as a cohesive unit, how does this still manage to happen?
In the latest of questionable media gaffes, H&M is at the forefront, after a controversial release featuring a child model. Originating in Sweden, H&M is now a worldwide clothing retailer that everyone is familiar with. It has been the go-to for many retail shoppers, however, that may now change after an arguably racist advertisement was published this week, leaving many baffled.
The renowned clothing company released an advertisement featuring a green kid’s hoodie that reads “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle”, modeled by a young black child. Instantly, the reactions came pouring in all over the depths of the internet. The obvious connotations that come with the word “monkey” throughout history have sparked inevitable controversy, with people questioning the motives and intentions of the fashion powerhouse. Many are wondering how this idea was passed and why this wasn’t flagged or stopped before being exposed to the world.
The mother of the child model, Terry Mango, has since spoken out about the contentious advertisement. She took to Facebook to release a statement, saying “This is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modeled….stop crying wolf all the time, unnecessary issue here…get over it”. To the surprise of many, she was trying to dismiss the issue at hand, and not make anything of it. She stated that she had even attended this photoshoot like many before, and didn’t make any racial claims about it. Ironically, upon saying this, she said she was called a “monkey” by relentless social media users. “You cannot try to defend my son and use the same words to describe me.”
The controversial advertisement has also caught the attention of celebrities worldwide, sparking a reaction out of them as well. LeBron James re-posted the ad on Instagram, with the child wearing a crown instead, stating “I see a Young King!! The ruler of the world, an untouchable Force that can never be denied!”. Rapper P Diddy also re-posted the image, with the sweater reading “Coolest king in the world”. Additionally, R&B singer The Weeknd, who recently collaborated with H&M on a clothing line, has since ended his ties with the company, and will no longer work with them.
H&M has released an apologetic statement, saying: “We understand that many people are upset about the image of the children’s hoodie. We, who work at H&M, can only agree. We’re deeply sorry that the picture was taken, and we also regret the actual print.” They have since removed it from everywhere and said that they would investigate the matter to prevent such a thing from happening again. Additionally, they released a second statement of apology to its media list, acknowledging where they went wrong, and sincerely aim to eradicate racism in any way.
Such a mistake can simply not be repeated. In this day and age, we have made significant strides to move from such instances, and it cannot be tolerated, especially not by major corporations. For a brand that has been worn by people of all ages and ethnicities, such a controversial message cannot be promoted. The clothing brand aims to move forward from their PR mistake, and clean up the mess that has inevitably ensued.
Ellen DeGeneres’ father, Elliott DeGeneres, has died at age 92.
On her show yesterday, the comedian told the audience that her father had passed away earlier in the week. “Before we go to break, there’s something else I want to talk about,” DeGeneres began. “I mentioned yesterday when I was talking about all the mudslides that are going on in my community of Montecito [in California], which is heartbreaking, I said that I had a lot going on in my life. In addition to what’s going on in Montecito, I lost my dad this week.” DeGeneres went on to say that Elliot, who was 92 years old, “lived his life exactly how he wanted.”
“He was very proud of me,” she told her audience, “He loved this show and he was a kind man, very accepting man. There was not one bone of judgment in his body.” She also shared that the former insurance salesman was “very funny,” and that she believes her and her brother Vance “got our sense of humor from him.” DeGeneres shared stories of her childhood with Elliot. “We only took one family vacation. When I was a little girl, we came to this lot, to the Warner Bros. lot, and took the tour and went around. And now, I work on the Warner Bros. lot and I have my own stage with my name on it. So he was really proud of that.”
Elliot is survived by ex-wife Betty DeGeneres, mother of Ellen. Ellen and Betty are still close, and Betty has appeared on many episodes of the Ellen DeGeneres show. Betty has also become a prominent LGBT rights activist after Ellen came out in 1997, working with the Human Rights Campaign’s National Coming Out Project and with Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).
The most touching part of DeGeneres’ speech about her father came when she talked about the last time she saw him. Apparently, the family had been preparing for his death for a while, and Degeneres got a chance “to say goodbye to him.” Afterwards, she said that she was leaving the Warner Brothers’ studio when she saw a rainbow over it.
“This looks photoshopped,” she said, as she showed her audience a photo of the rainbow, but added, “This is what I saw after I talked to my dad and he died 10 minutes later after that. Pretty amazing.”
To Ellen, the rainbow was a symbol of her father’s pride in her and her life. In a tweet after the video was released, she wrote, “He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me.”
Auditioning on Britain’s Got Talent was something that Jodi Bird always dreamed of. When she got word that her dream was going to be a reality, she knew exactly what song she wanted to sing. After months of practicing, Jodi was ready to give the judges the performance of a lifetime. However, things took a strange turn when Simon stopped her audition only a few seconds in…
Picking “Don’t Rain on My Parade” was a no-brainer for Jodi due to the songs powerful history. Hollywood A-lister Barbra Streisand first performed the song in the hit musical, Funny Girl. The song’s lyrics are empowering to those who want to make it big and that’s exactly what Jodi wanted to do with her stint on Britain’s Got Talent. So when Jodi stepped onto the stage and “Don’t Rain on My Parade” started to play over the loudspeakers, she was ready for an audition that would knock the socks off of the judges. She had no idea that Simon would cut her song short just moments after beginning.
Even though she only sang for a few seconds, the other judges and many of the audience members jeered Simon for his choice and urged Jodi to keep singing. Listening to their pleas, Jodi began her song all over again – and this time it was even more powerful! The moment Jodi wrapped up her audition, the audience (and several of the judges) rose to their feet. Thankfully, she was passed through to the next round by all four of the judges! Listen to her incredible performance for yourself by pressing “play” on the video below!
When Jaqi Clements and her husband welcomed two sweet baby girls into the world on July 7, 2010, they had no idea that life would be so chaotic. Sure, they expected double the diapers, late nights and spit-ups with the twins – but they had no way of knowing that the girls’ looks would cause such a fuss.
Now images of the girls are going viral, and once you see their faces for yourself, you’ll understand why…
Ava Marie and Leah Rose were born four and half weeks early in 2010. Jaqi explained on her blog that the girls’ early arrival was just the start of their strong personalities.
Knowing their personalities now it makes total sense that they would show up early, unannounced, and ready to take on anything.
As the months rolled on and the girls continued to grow, people started to notice how stunning they were. Listening to their comments and sensing her daughters’ beauty, Jaqi looked into signing the girls up with an agent and getting them into modeling when they were six months old.
However, things didn’t pan out quite like she imagined and she pulled the girl from modeling shortly after getting started. She never imagined that a few Instagram posts would turn things around quite like they did…
With a son and two young girls at home, life at the Clements’ house went on just as busy as ever after the modeling fell by the wayside. The girls continued to blossom and the comments about their looks persisted.
Jaqi explained that people would stop them everywhere and inquire about Ava and Leah.
For as long as I can remember strangers would approach me when we were out asking first if they were twins… Their follow-up would always be, ‘Wow they are so beautiful, you should really think about getting them into modeling.’
After the initial modeling search went sour, Jaqi was nervous about getting her girls back into the industry. But as soon as the girls turned seven, things changed.
Jaqi shared the moment she realized that her girls were ready to step back into the limelight on her blog.
This year was different. The girls were different. They finally had a personality of their own. They loved to perform their dance routines in front of an audience, any audience. Neighbors, friends, strangers… it didn’t matter to them, they loved to be the center of attention…
Aside from the fact that I’m a huge believer in signs and have been told by almost everyone that 7 is a lucky number, I just had a feeling that this year was going to be a fun and exciting year for them.
I presented my idea to the girls that if they were up for it, in addition to their dance classes and swim team practices they had every week, they could give modeling a try.
I was not surprised at all when they started jumping up and down and couldn’t wait to begin!
The girls’ first gig was actually for a family friend who recently opened up a children’s boutique around the corner. Jaqi immediately agreed to help with the “model search” problem, snagged the girls and her old Nikon camera, and rushed to the scene.
Well, I can’t say it went exactly how I thought it was going to go. Ava would look at the camera while Leah would stare off into space… Leah would accidentally bump into Ava, who, of course, thought it was on purpose and would shove her back.
All and all, it turned out to be a success, surprisingly.
We got a few good pictures at least for my neighbor to use for her new business and for us to send out to a few agencies that we were hoping may have some interest.
After working past the bickering, pushing and shoving, Jaqi was able to capture several stunning pictures of her girls. She knew that this was the moment things were really going to change for them.
Jaqi posted the pictures of Ava and Leah on their Instagram page – and in no time at all, their photos went viral. Agents were calling repeatedly just to get a chance to meet the girls.
In the end, they signed with not one, but two different agents in California and have been busy ever since! While there have been scheduling conflicts with having two agents, it’s a problem that shows the girls really are rising to the top of their industry!
There’s a reason why Ava and Leah are considered to be the most beautiful twins in the world. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them – and with a tough momma bear like Jaqi, we know they’ll be able to keep a good head on their shoulders!
When Tiffani Von Glahn and Carl Alewine found out that they were going to become mom and dad to a baby girl, they were beside themselves with excitement. Like all new parents, the couple was looking forward to the joyful day when their daughter would finally arrive.
Unfortunately, that happy day turned into a nightmarish fiasco that neither of them could foresee. Poor Tiffani was scared for her baby’s life, and if she had known beforehand how that day would end, she probably would have acted differently. But as we all know, hindsight is 20/20, and it was now too late to change what happened.
Tiffani had a high-risk pregnancy, so when she suddenly went into labor – her husband knew he had to rush her to the hospital. But that was only the beginning of their evening that would lead to Carl being placed in handcuffs. Soon their story was plastered all over the news.
Early on in Tiffani’s pregnancy, she was told that she couldn’t have a vaginal delivery because the baby’s position was all wrong. The young couple had planned to have Anastasia at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, which was an hour away from their home. Tiffani told WCBD:
I was told she was a high-risk pregnancy and the way she was sitting at the time, she would’ve gotten stuck and I would’ve had to have a C-section. So I was thinking there was no way I could have her naturally.
Tiffani didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize her baby’s health, and was intent on following doctor’s orders until she was born. However, Anastasia was anxious to come out and play, and three weeks before she was due to be delivered by C-section, mom Tiffani went into labor.
Carl rushed mom to the hospital, and the only thing on Tiffani’s mind was getting to the hospital in time. She thought if the baby popped out too early, it would spell certain doom, and time was certainly not on their side!
Of course, when their car sped down the freeway at over 95 miles per hour, it caught the attention of a police cruiser. When the policeman pulled up behind their car and flashed his lights, Carl asked Tiffani if he should pull over and stop, but she told him to keep driving. Mom was frightened for her little girl, and saving the life of her baby was more important than breaking the law.
When Carl ignored all their efforts to get him to stop, the cops switched gears and acted accordingly. That’s when the couple realized their mistake – what started out as a single cop car turned into a wild 20-car police chase. At this point, the story was on every news agency’s radar. A very embarrassed Tiffani said:
I look back and there’s like 20 police cars, and they had the exits blocked off and everything. Eventually it got to where they had to box us in to stop us.
The couple had no choice but to stop right in the middle of the Interstate-26. Carl was immediately handcuffed for safety reasons. One of the policemen told them it’s fairly common for speed demons to fake having a pregnant wife.
However, it didn’t take long for officers to realize that this very pregnant woman was really having a baby – right at that very moment! One of the men quickly stepped up to the plate and switched roles from being a cop to playing a pretend doc. Carl told WCBD:
I’m sitting there, watching her born on the hood of the car, fireworks going off in the background because it’s New Year’s, and then they let me out of handcuffs, and the cops started clapping and congratulating us.
Even though there were concerns about complications with Tiffani’s pregnancy, it turns out that she was worried about nothing. She gave birth naturally in the middle of the most high-stress situation imaginable, and Anastasia turned out just fine. Only, this special New Years baby has an exciting story to tell her grandkids one day.
Watch this video to find out more about this fun New Year’s Day car chase.
